Kang Ning Yong is a pianist and nationally certified music educator dedicated to inspiring creativity and excellence in piano education. Based in Oxford, Ohio, she is the founder and director of a thriving private piano studio known for its holistic, student-centered approach. As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM), Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Certified Teacher, and Music for Young Children (MYC) Certified Teacher, Kang Ning is committed to nurturing well-rounded musicians through artistry, discipline, and imagination.
In addition to her private teaching, Kang Ning serves as an adjunct professor at Miami University and Northern Kentucky University, where she teaches Aural Skills and Beginning Piano for Non-Majors, and collaborates as a pianist for choral and instrumental studios. She is also the principal pianist for the Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC), an award-winning ensemble-in-residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) recognized for its excellence in choral artistry and community engagement.
Her teaching philosophy integrates audiation, musical expression, and mindful technique, empowering students to develop confidence, creativity, and artistry at the keyboard.
Originally from Malaysia, Kang Ning earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from Miami University under the tutelage of Prof. Lian Tan, and her Bachelor of Music from Universiti Putra Malaysia, studying with Dr. Loo Fung Chiat, Ms. Carolyn Lo, and Ms. Geneviene Wong. She also holds a Performer’s Licentiate in Piano (LTCL) with distinction from Trinity College London.
An active collaborator, she frequently performs with instrumentalists and vocalists across the Cincinnati region, accompanying students for competitions, auditions, and degree recitals.
Passionate about innovative teaching and community engagement, Kang Ning has served in leadership roles at regional music schools, mentoring faculty and developing curriculum. She has also presented workshops on creative piano pedagogy, aural skill development, and early childhood music education.
Kang Ning believes that music is a bridge between cultures and generations, and she continues to explore meaningful ways to connect people through the shared joy of music-making.
