James Braid Violin and Viola Instructor
James Braid holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin 
performance from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater in 1985.
In 1974, He became a member of the first violin section of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He is also currently concertmaster emeritus with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, where he was concertmaster for over twenty years.
In 1989, James joined the faculty of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts, where he teaches violin, coaches chamber music and is First Violin of the Corbett String Quartet.
As conductor of the Blue Ash Symphony Orchestra, he founded the Blue Ash Youth Orchestra in 1991. In 1996, James and his wife Colleen (who is a prominent string teacher in the Dayton area) were co-founders of Prelude Strings chamber music camp in Dayton, Ohio. For three weeks every summer they offer ensemble coaching, string orchestra and weekly recitals for 7th through 12th graders.
James prepares his students for recitals and contests, as well as for local youth orchestra membership. His goal is to share his love and joy in music making with his students, and to enhance their quality of life through the knowledge and appreciation of music.
